Displacement hulls trace their roots to the revolutionary designs of the late 1960s, emphasizing trim, rail engagement, and effortless speed over traditional top-to-bottom surfing. Designed and hand-shaped by master craftsman Adam Davenport, every Hobie Hull is refined through extensive testing by the Hobie Surfboards team to preserve the smooth, flowing feel that defines the design. Rather than relying on the tail for drive, Hulls encourage surfers to generate speed by surfing from the front foot, drawing long, clean lines and maintaining continuous rail engagement through every turn. Each model offers its own interpretation of the displacement hull concept—from traditional, drawn-out outlines to more versatile, modern variations—but all reward patience, precision, and thoughtful surfing.
