hr

We've touched on the World Contest of '66 and the contributions of George Greenough, Bob McTavish, Nat Young, and the other Australians who helped spark the shortboard revolution. Adam Davenport gave us the American version with the Hobie Lightweight. Now, Gary's giving you something that's right at home in Australia's Hot Generation.
Originally designed for Hobie team rider Matt Davies, the HR starts with our flattest rocker, the TM Flat, with just a touch of added tail rocker. The wide point sits center, the nose is narrower than the tail, giving it that unmistakable "hippy" presence. As Nat Young once pointed out, "Sam" was built this way, but G-Lar wasn't interested in making a slow board. The HR trims hard, stays close to the curl, and the added tail rocker helps it lock in for controlled noseriding when it counts.
The beauty of the HR is that it's built to be personalized. It's not uncommon for Larson to add hard edges, more vee, nose concave, or other refinements to turn it into one heck of a wave weapon. Be sure to check out Matt's HR in Hobie's latest film this summer, or better yet, come see one in the racks.
