The Farside is the brainchild of Hobie shaper Gary Larson. Always looking for new ways to have fun in the surf, Gary created the Farside with travel and down-the-line surfing in mind. Originally designed as a step-up from our classic Retro Egg, the Farside offers a slightly pulled-in outline that adds performance while maintaining the playful feel of the original. Typically ranging from 7’6” to 8’6” in stores, it can also be tailored down to sub-7’ lengths for those who prefer a slimmer profile over the fuller dimensions of the Retro Egg.

Gary explains: "This is a great mid-length travel board, or a board for head-high winter point breaks. It is a true quiver expander. At 7’10”, it looks like a Ferrari, speed personified. It carries a fairly neutral rocker from tip to tail and can run either a single fin or a 2+1 setup. I am especially looking forward to winter, as this board is going to shine at those northern points."
